Improve and grow: Cfg creates a product research and development laboratory

Working well means increasing one’s own knowledge and enhancing the production processes for a quality and reliable product. This is the reason why Cfg srl – a company based in Traghetto di Argenta and specializing in the production of chromed tubes and bars – created a product research and development laboratory two years ago, where products are tested to improve their performance.

The starting point is excellence in the field, but Cfg wants to constantly monitor processes, implement them and respond to the client’s needs in an increasingly precise way. The objective is to make our chromed bars and tubes more highly performing in terms of resistance to corrosion. This project is ambitious, because the surfaces involved are very small and the surface stress caused by grinding operations is high.

Indeed, all Cfg’s products are rectified before and after the chrome plating phase to ensure unprecedented dimensional control.

All batches are tested in a salty environment to assess the real level of resistance to corrosion with the aim of providing real and reliable value to clients. In this market, many boast about achieving incredible results, but in fact there is no proof that connects what the producers say and the results of laboratory tests.

To improve the physical, chemical and mechanical characteristics of the products, assessments are made based on precise tests and starting from the standard production cycle, which is analysed during the different phases to identify key variables.

We start from pre-grinding – which is fundamental for the following phase of chrome plating – to finally analysing the next grinding phases of chrome and finish.

Currently, there are 3 people working in the laboratory who carry out constant development and research activity in addition to monitoring the quality management system. For Cfg, research also means an opportunity for the technical development and growth of its own staff, who are always committed to its main goal: constant and continuous improvement.
